At Melissa Childcare, we believe that children thrive when they feel safe, secure, valued and understood.
More Than Childcare - We are like One Big Family
One of the things that makes Melissa Childcare special is the strong relationships between the children.
We have created a warm, family like environment where children of different ages spend time together, build friendships and learn from one another. Older children naturally become caring models for younger children, while younger children enjoy being part of the wider group.
There is real sense of belonging within our setting. The children know each other well, look out for one another and develop genuine friendships and relationships. We encourage kindness, sharing, helping and caring for each other, creating environment where children feel supported and valued.
Our Team
Melissa has worked in childcare since 2013, caring for children from 11 months to 11 years old. Over the years, she has developed a strong understanding of children’s different stages of development and the importance of recognising each child’s individual personality, interests and needs.
Our childcare team is made up of experienced Early years practitioners who are passionate about providing high-quality care and creating positive relationships with children and their families.
We understand that choosing childcare is a big decision for parents. That’s why we work closely with families to understand each child’s needs and make sure they feel happy, settled and supported in our care.
Supporting Children’s Emotional Wellbeing
We understand that children’s emotional wellbeing is an important part of their development.
One of our practitioners is also a qualified child counsellor with a Level 5 qualification in Chiod Counselling. This brings additional knowledge and understanding of children’s emotional needs to our team and supports our nurturing approach to childcare.
A Multilingual & Welcoming Environment
We are proud to have a multilingual team and can communicate with families in English, Turkish and Polish.
We understand how reassuring it can be for parents to communicate in a language they feel most comfortable with, particularly when discussing their child’s needs, development and wellbeing.
Our Approach
Every child is unique, and we take the time to get to know the children in our care. We encourage them to explore, play, be creative, develop their independence and build positive relationships with others.
We want children to feel that Melissa Childcare is a place where they belong - a place where they are cared for, listened to and encouraged to grow in confidence.

Learning, Playing & Growing Together
At Melissa Childcare, we believe children learn best when they are happy, active and involved in the world around them.
Our days are varied and full of opportunities for children to explore, discover new interests and simply enjoy being children. We like to create experiences that children remember, while supporting their development along the way.
Learning Through Everyday Experiences
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and plan activities that support each child’s development, while also allowing children to follow their own interests and ideas.
Learning doesn’t only happen around a table. It happens when children explore the park, listen to a story at the library, create something together, ask questions, play with their friends or discover something new.
Out & About
We love getting out and about in the local community.
Depending on the children’s ages and interests, we visit local parks, the library and museums, giving children opportunities to explore their surroundings and experience things beyond our setting.
Trips and outings also encourage children’s confidence, independence, communication and curiosity.
Keeping Active
We believe being active should be fun.
Children have opportunities to dance, take part in yoga, exercise and enjoy outdoor play. Whether they are running around at the park, dancing to music or trying a new activity, we encourage children to move, have fun and develop confidence in their physical abilities.
Creativity & Imagination
Arts and crafts are an important part of our day.
Children have opportunities to paint, draw, make things, experiment with different materials and use their imagination. We encourage children to be creative in their own way rather than expecting everyone to make the same thing.
Celebrating Every Child & Every Family
We respect and value all cultures, religions and family backgrounds.
Throughout the year, we learn about and celebrate different religious and cultural celebrations. Children enjoy taking part in themed activities, stories and crafts, helping them learn about the world around them and develop respect and understanding for others.

Most importantly, we want children to feel happy, confident and comfortable being themselves.
Every child is different, and we take the time to understand their personality, interests and individual needs. We encourage them to make friends, try new things, become more independent and enjoy their time with us.
